Live Advent Calendar

Visit Historic Downtown Bethlehem from December 1 through 23 to experience our unique, annual Live Advent Calendar tradition. The Downtown Bethlehem Association (DBA), an entity of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites and Touchstone Theatre host this special tradition each December. Enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience — it’s the only one like it in the nation!

Here’s how it works.

• Visitors gather in the Sun Inn Courtyard at 5:30 pm
• At the time of the presentation, a selected visitor is asked to knock on the door
• When the door is opened, a special guest from a local business or organization appears and distributes treats to the crowd

The idea of the “Live Advent Calendar” is from the tradition of Advent Calendars or Christmas Countdown Calendars for children and families during the holidays.  With a traditional calendar, there are a set number of “doors” to open each day as Christmas draws near and a treat or message each day.

The Historic DBA Advent Calendar is life-sized with a special person to hand out the treat daily at 5:30 p.m.  Each day a different local business provides surprise entertainment.
