1751 Old Chapel
The Old Chapel was built in 1751 when the Moravians outgrew their first worship space in the Gemeinhaus. Here many notable figures of the American Revolution (George and Martha Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Samuel Adams, John Hancock, Count Casimir Pulaski and the Marquis de Lafayette) heard early Moravian music and the Gospel. Prominent clergy were Bishops Nitschmann, Spangenberg, de Watteville, and Ettwein. The chapel is a small, intimate space seating about 180 people.
