A Legacy of Preservation

OUR HISTORY

A Legacy of Preservation

Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites traces its origins to 1937 when a group of concerned citizens formed an organization to preserve the historic Moravian structures threatened by development. Over eight decades later, we have grown from a small preservation effort into a major cultural institution stewarding 18 historic properties and over 50,000 artifacts that tell the story of Bethlehem from 1741 to the present.

Did you know?

Bethlehem was founded on Christmas Eve, 1741, giving the city its name and its lasting connection to the Christmas traditions celebrated here today.
